2008-09 UNIFORM UP-DATES

Beginning with this 2008-09 school year, the dark green monogrammed sweatshirt purchased from Just Me Apparel is required for boys and girls in grades K-8. Grey SGM sweatshirts are no longer allowed. A dark green monogrammed cardigan sweater purchased from Just Me Apparel will also be available for girls in grades K-8.

In addition, the new SGM Logo PE uniform of gray shirts and navy blue shorts are also required for the 2008-09 school year.

GENERAL UNIFORM REMINDERS
A few general uniform reminders are listed below. For more detailed guidelines, please refer to the Uniform Code listed at the right.

• Cargo style or oversized pants and shorts are not acceptable.



• Solid navy or black belts must be worn at all grade levels. Belt buckles must be simple in style (nothing ornate or oversized). Girls must also wear belts when wearing shorts or slacks.



• Only the basic golf polo-style short or long sleeve solid white shirts as well as white turtlenecks are acceptable for all students including Kindergarten. Girls in Grades K-2 may wear cotton button down blouses with their jumpers. Middle school students may also wear solid navy or gray shirts.



• Please make sure that shirts are long enough to stay tucked in.



• Girls shirts may not be stretch knit, have cap sleeves, or have ripples or ruffles on the collar.



• Some girls are having, or wanting to have, their skirts altered to lower the waist to be more in style with today's clothing. Such adjustments to the basic uniform design are not allowed. When purchasing and hemming jumpers, skorts and kilts, please adhere to the length guideline (i.e., no shorter than two inches above the knee).



• Jewelry: No necklaces, wrist bracelets or ankle bracelets may be worn with the basic uniform. A watch, a simple ring, and a simple religious medal/chain will be the only items allowed. Girls' earrings must be post-style and not hang below the bottom of the ear. Boys are not allowed to wear earrings in school.



• Hair of all students must be neat, combed and not hang in their eyes. Length of boy's hair may not extend below the shirt collar.




• Hair Adornments: Bows, scrunches, and barrettes must be simple in style and coordinate with the basic uniform (dark green, white, yellow, navy blue, and black). Beads, colored rubber bands, bandanas, athletic tape, holiday, or gaudy hair accessories are not allowed.




• High School Logo Apparel will not be acceptable on regular school days or color days, including jackets, sweatshirts, hats, etc. On Color Days, shorts, capris, pants, and jeans with lettering across the bottoms are not acceptable.
