PARKING LOT SAFETY REMINDER
Dismissal is a time to really focus on the safety of our children. We thank you for following the dismissal procedure.
For those of you who have the Special Parking passes, we remind you to look behind and around your car before you back up or pull out.
We will also remind the students not to stand behind cars. The safety of our students is always first. Thank you for your cooperation.
2008-09 CARPOOL DISMISSAL REQUESTS
FROM CHRIS BEUSSINK AND JACKIE MURPHY
We appreciate everyone's cooperation at dismissal. It is our goal to make it as safe and speedy as can be. We will use the same parking procedure as last year with one addition. After the children have been dismissed from school, one whistle will blow to signal all children and parents to return to their cars. Shortly after that, two whistles will sound to let everyone know that traffic is moving and the cars are exiting the lot. It would be a tremendous help if the first cars that arrive pull all of the way up to the edge of the front lines. This allows for four rows of parked cars to get onto the SGM lot with no backflow onto Dougherty Ferry road.
Only those vehicles with parking passes are allowed to park on the church side of the lot. A special parking pass may be obtained at the office and should be displayed on the front window when entering the lot.
In an effort to expedite things, we will again be waving cars out the Ballas Road exit to relieve congestion on Dougherty Ferry and on the SGM lot. We understand that at times making a left onto Ballas can be difficult, but it truly helps to move the cars off the lot more quickly.. Our goal is to have all cars off the SGM lot by 3:10pm everyday.
Thank you for your cooperation!
Two paid parent carpool dismissal helpers assist in the parking of cars as they arrive on the lot and in the directing of cars as they leave.
Kirkwood Fire Department’s guidelines for not blocking Fire Lanes impact our dismissal procedure.
If you are on the property for a meeting during the school day, please park on the church-side of the island. Your car will not get blocked in no matter what time you need to leave, and the carpool pickup procedure can also run smoothly. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
Please do not arrive before 2:30pm as the upper lot is often used for PE classes.
Refer to the files on the right for more detailed procedures and information this year.
